Motor Skills Development Mile Markers:
1. Birth: When a baby is born, they have very little control over the movement of their hands and arms. 2. 8 Weeks Old: Babies begin to use their hands and arms by swinging at toys and other items. 3. 5 Months Old: Babies begin to explore the world around them by using their hands and arms. They are learning about things through the sense of touch. 4. 10-12 Months Old: Babies can typically begin to grasp and grab things at this point-using the muscles in the hands, forearms and fingers to accomplish this task. 5. 1 to 2 years Old: Toddlers can now become skillful when using their hands and arms. They are beginning to pick things up independently, can stack items, button/zipper clothing. |
